Every single system, apparatus or organic tissue works in an optimal way with specific pH values: the pH of the gastric juices is in fact very different from that of urine, saliva, skin and blood. The term pH means the unit of measure capable of assessing the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. At pH 7.0, that is exactly halfway through the measurement scale (0-14), it is identified as neutral, to values below 7.0 the acid substances are found, towards the values above 7.0 the basic substances are found or alkaline.
