Supplement for the control of lipid metabolism based on polyphenolic extract of Campanian Apple PGI
Melacol is a food supplement based on polyphenolic extract of Campanian Apple PGI (Annurcomplex®) and dry Olive extract which favors the lipid metabolism.
An observational retrospective study conducted at the University of Modena's Department of Surgery on mild and moderate hypercholesterolemia patients treated with Melacol showed a reduction in total cholesterol ( TC) and LDL and a reduction in cardiovascular risk indices.
No adverse effects were reported during the entire duration of the treatment.
The benefit on lipid metabolism was determined by the combination of the two extracts by regulating cellular oxidative stress and uptake of cholesterol molecules.

Olivo dry extract titled to 20% oleuropein, a molecule with marked anti-radical activity against oxidized LDL cholesterol, much more marked than other antioxidant molecules, including vitamin E. Oleuropein also has the claim of being a regulator of concentrations TC, LDL and HDL cholesterol plasmas.

These actions seem to be mainly attributed to flavonoids, phenols and secoiridoids (oleuropeoside with hypotensive activity) contained in the plant.
